Sasak (isocode sas) is spoken by some 2 million people on the island of Lombok, Indonesia. The objective of this dictionary is to help non-native speakers, including other Indonesians, to talk Sasak properly. These days if Sasak is written, it is written with tacit understandings taken from Indonesian which makes pronunciation for non-natives difficult. The spelling system used in this dictionary will help one get their Sasak right the first time.

Included within the dictionary are real life pattern sentences. Indonesian and English literal translations of these sentences. The vocabulary covers a broad spectrum of every day language.

We have focused on Sasak utilized in Mataram which is understood if not spoken across the island. There is some vocabulary from other dialects (flagged) however understand that the far northern and much southern dialects are typically incomprehensible to Sasak folks in Mataram.

The entries using the International Phonetic Alphabet are still under improvement. As with all dictionary initiatives, there is a continuous want for corrections additions and updating. We hope to update as frequently as we will.
